Health Monitoring System Overview (Esfahan Steel Company)

The Health Monitoring System is developed using the Laravel framework, PHP language, and MySQL database. The system's structure is designed to be compatible with any database without major changes to the source code. It is expected to support integration with SQL Server in the future. The system also utilizes JavaScript and jQuery. The overall structure was inspired by previous systems in the company and other similar systems, with a focus on addressing their weaknesses (after eight months of research and analysis). The initial version was developed in six months by a team of six people, including two front-end developers, three back-end developers, and an analyst. The system has been continuously updated over the past three years by a smaller team of two (one back-end and one front-end developer).

The Health Monitoring System was developed as part of a contract with Esfahan Steel Company to monitor the health of its employees. The system's goal is to collect results and generate reports to drive the health monitoring project forward. The initial data entered into the system includes employee and user information, company branches, organizational roles, diseases according to the ICDN standards, symptoms, diagnoses, examination types (pre-employment, periodic, etc.), roles and access levels, laboratory tests, organs, and more.

For each employee, the system can create a file for different purposes (pre-employment, periodic, case-specific, etc.). The system suggests a combination of preliminary para-clinical actions and tests for each type of examination, which can be customized. A doctor is assigned, along with the appropriate laboratory and treatment center. Personal and family history, current health status, and exposure to harmful factors based on the employee's job are recorded. Health screening tests, para-clinical procedures, and lab results are uploaded into the system, and the doctor completes the examination form based on these results. If a referral, consultation, or correspondence is needed, these actions are recorded and the results uploaded. For psychological tests, if necessary, they are activated for the employee to complete. The results are then analyzed, and the doctor provides feedback before the file is closed. If a follow-up opinion is required, the file is reopened after the previous opinion is recorded.

System Features

The Health Monitoring System is designed based on the experiences of two previous software systems and addresses their weaknesses. It is capable of connecting to any database without modifying the source code. The system is highly customizable and has fully implemented the concept of medical files, which can be used in similar occupational health projects that require monitoring over time.

The system complies with the ICDN standards, allowing for disease-related reporting. It is mobile-friendly and accessible without the need for an app installation for employees. All data inputs are designed to be reportable, including test items.

The system's outputs enable the monitoring and prevention of diseases and injuries among employees, offering advice on nutrition, warnings, and much more. All involved parties, such as treatment centers, laboratories, doctors, employees, and occupational health officers, are integrated into the process of managing the medical files.

Many large organizations in the country lack an integrated system in this field, making the market potential for this system quite promising.

System Benefits

  • Works with any database without modifying the source code.
  • Customizable with fully implemented medical file features, ideal for time-based health projects.
  • Complies with ICDN standards for disease reporting.
  • Mobile-friendly, no app installation required.
  • Structured inputs for easy reporting, including lab tests.
  • Supports health monitoring, disease prevention, and employee safety.
  • Integrated workflow for communication between all involved parties.
  • High market potential due to lack of integrated systems in large organizations.

Additional Features

The system supports various services, including tracking harmful work factors, offering periodic health monitoring, and providing psychological evaluations, when necessary. After processing results, the system updates employee files accordingly. The system also facilitates referrals for medical consultations or other required actions.
